Shirt Customization options

Once you’ve decided to commission a made-to-measure shirt, you’ve deemed yourself fashion designer for a day. You’re officially in the driver’s seat when it comes to your personal style.  Have you always struggled to find a striped shirt with a button-down collar? Or a wrinkle-free shirt with side knife pleats?  Worry no more.  One of the greatest benefits of the made-to-measure process is the plethora of customization details at your disposal. Let’s walk through the options available for crafting the shirt of your dreams.

 Fabric/Pattern

Every detail plays an important role in making a fantastic shirt.  But the first step is choosing the fabric. Are you interested in wrinkle-free or linen?  Do you prefer patterns like stripes and checks?  Or are you a guy who prefers solids?  Perhaps you need something more unique like microstretch, diamond, royal or club?  Shop through dozens of our signature fabrics and prints to find the one that’s right for you.

Fit

All our shirts are offered in a Close Fit or Comfort Fit. Close Fit is a more tailored option designed to be worn close to your body while the Comfort Fit affords you more room. Fret not a lot, because we provide a free ‘Test-fit’ shirt to every client as a first shirt.

Collar

The collar is one of the shirting aspects with the most expansive array of options. You can opt for a 1-button spread or a wide spread.The classic point, button down collar and short button down are also options. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, the Mao collar offers modern style that’s almost collar-free.

Sleeve/Cuff

Each of our shirts can be designed as short or long-sleeve garments. For the long-sleeve shirts, you can customize the cuff as much or as little as you desire.  Garnish your cuff with one or two buttons in rounded, angled or straight styles. You can also pick a French cuff that’s straight or angled.

Placket/Buttons

The placket, the portion of the shirt that houses the buttons, is offered in the traditional style, the French style or the hidden style. The contrast fabric can be stitched in on your button placket, the button placket edge, or the inner or outer buttonhole plackets.

The buttons themselves come in Mother of Pearl white or black and in 1.8mm or 3mm sizes.

Pockets

Whether you’re not a fan of pockets or you could never have too many, you can decide what’s right for you. Skip them altogether or add one to your right or left chest.  If you can’t decide between those options, you can always add a pocket to each side.

Back & Bottom Details

These details are often overlooked by most men but they make a big difference.  For your back, you could go with no detail or you can spice things up. Choose from a Center Box pleat, Side Knife pleats or Dual Back Fish Darts.  Your bottom hem can be fashioned as a regular tail, long tail or straight hem.

Other Details

If you’re still looking for a few ways to add in more of your personality, consider adding contrast fabric to areas like your sleeve placket or gusset, or monogramming your cuff.
